Welcome to The Flood Hub. You can find us at: https://thefloodhub.com.

Comments on Our Site

When you choose to leave comments on our site, we gather data shown in the comments form. For spam detection and prevention, we also collect your IP address and your browser’s user agent string.

We may provide an anonymized string (known as a hash) created from your email address to the Gravatar service, if you use it. Post approval, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment. For more information, you can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

If you’re uploading images to our website, we recommend you avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) as visitors can download and extract this data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies, for your convenience. This means you won’t need to refill your details when leaving another comment. These cookies will last one year.

Upon visiting our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie holds no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set up cookies to save your login details and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account will remove these cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data, just the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on our site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). This embedded content behaves as if you have visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect your data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.

Data Sharing

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For registered users on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This excludes any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data Sent Off-Site

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
